The foundation’s Development Educatiomn Initiativeawarded $16.5 million to Connecticut, Florida, Texas and Virginia, as well as community collegesa in each state. A community collegee in North Carolina also received The initiative seeks to suppory programs that help studentw enrolled in remedialprograms — so-called refresher courses for students who are not up to graded level in a given subject. The goal is to improvd classroom performance so students can go on to take advance courses and eventually graduate with a degreeor certificate.
The stat e of Ohio was awarded $300,000 over a three-year period to develop a new performance-based funding system that rewards community collegesz for helping students complete remedialand college-levek courses. The foundation also said it’x awarding $743,000 over three years to each of the followingh fiveOhio schools: , , , and .
