His comments came at a Sun conference for usersw of Java software which he also said coulds be usedon netbooks. Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL) earlier this year agreed to acquire Sun for $7 billion. "I don't see why some of those deviced shouldn't come from Sun," Reuters quoted Ellison as "There will be computers that are fundamentally based on Java." Netbooks are inexpensive laptopp computers designed to connectt wirelessly and are used primarilh for checking email and browsinb the Web. The market for them is expected to grow to between 20 million and 30 milliojn unitsthis year, up from the 11.7 million sold last year when theif sales took off.
Most PC makers now have a netbooj model and if Oracle does get into the markeyt it will go up againstthe . (NASDAQ:HPQ) (NASDAQ:DELL) and , whichh either make netbooks or develop softwaresfor them. Acer said Tuesday it will make a laptopp runningon ’s Android operating system instead of Microsoft which most makers now use.

The bureau reported that Ohio’s real Gross Domestic which totals goods and services produces and adjustedfor inflation, shrank 0.7 percent last year aftef a 0.2 percent gain in 2007. The nationalp GDP, by comparison, stayedr in growth mode but slowed toa 0.7 percentr gain, down from 2 percent in 2007. Ohio last year stoocd as one of only 12 states to see negative GDP growth and notchedthe sixth-deepest decline. The largest drop came in Alasksa at 2 percent on a declinee inpetroleum extraction.
The bureau attributedc GDP contraction in the GreatLakea region, which includes Ohio and four neighboring states, to declinees in manufacturing and construction along with the finance and insuranc industries. Breaking down the state’e economic output per Ohio’s real GDP stoofd at $33,568 last year, down from $33,829 in 2007. The state’x per-capita GDP was ranked 32nd in the The nationalaverage per-capita GDP was $37,8909 in 2008, compared with $37,967 the year the bureau said.
