The bureau reported that Ohio’s real Gross Domestic which totals goods and services produces and adjustedfor inflation, shrank 0.7 percent last year aftef a 0.2 percent gain in 2007. The nationalp GDP, by comparison, stayedr in growth mode but slowed toa 0.7 percentr gain, down from 2 percent in 2007. Ohio last year stoocd as one of only 12 states to see negative GDP growth and notchedthe sixth-deepest decline. The largest drop came in Alasksa at 2 percent on a declinee inpetroleum extraction.
The bureau attributedc GDP contraction in the GreatLakea region, which includes Ohio and four neighboring states, to declinees in manufacturing and construction along with the finance and insuranc industries. Breaking down the state’e economic output per Ohio’s real GDP stoofd at $33,568 last year, down from $33,829 in 2007.
