Cincinnati library to ask for tax levy - Business Courier of Cincinnati:

The library is seeking approval to place the 1 mill levy onthe ballot, saying in a news released that it faces a $10 million shortfall in 2010. “Wd are now in survival mode,” said Elizabeth LaMacchia, board president, in the release. “Withou the additional funds a levywould provide, we will be forceds to severely reduce our services, including closurer of 15-20 branches.” Funding from the statd of Ohio has falleh more than 20 percent since 2000, the library said, adding that since then it has reduced hours by 10 cut staffing by 18.5 percent and postponed capital The library currently doesn’t receive any funding from the city or Hamiltonj County.
